4 Types of Beautiful Websites with Analysis

Same as usual, before we actually proceed any of the web design, references...research...analysis need to be done first. Here's the FOUR I've picked up:

1. NOKIA (http://www.nokia.com.my)

Before they reinvented the website:

After they reinvented:

This is a TOTAL change for NOKIA website design, it's very trend and elegant, also CLEAN. The theme is suitable is because they are promoting their new NOKIA LUMIA product which needed to suit the blueish color mood. The arrangement is well-organized, unlike the old website, just couldn't stand of it. New design, new colors, new layout arrangement, and typography neatness treatment. All we can say it's a completely fresh website of the year. Great job, Nokia!

Before:
After:

I'm impressed about SAMSUNG website treatment. When I first the old one from the looks on the label, and after looked up the newly design for recent one, i was telling myself: "Not really change a lot?" But i'm wrong. After surfing around their website, every commercial website has their own unique treatment to show and propose them in LIVE website. SAMSUNG website, the diamond blue theme, never gets out from it, adding up the HTML5, it looks more innovative. Well-arranged and also clean, it won't look too messy if you can't find what you want, at least there's a way to escape back to the main.

3. CHATIME (http://www.chatime.com.au/) - Australia Official Site

Chatime is all over the place in M'sia, people loves to buy them, is because their shop name is nice to hear. Chatime...chatime...it's Chat Time as we know. The theme for the website suits the product because it's all the plant ingredients that are used for the drinks. Purple and green, matched well along with the logo. Hierarchy is most focus point to attract consumers attention, whether it's Event, Promotion, New Shops...they're all there. If one people talk about Chatime, you'll notice millions of people buying one on their hands. LOL. It's well-organized website, indeed.

1. Elegant Design.
2. Purple as the main color theme, to suits their company.
3. Neat arrangement, typography still OK.

Well, the end...? L.O.L!!

4 types of Competitor's Website with Analysis (Compete with STARBUCKS)

Starbucks Coffee has always the most favorite coffee to all the people around the world, their franchise spreads all over the world and become the most famous coffee shop and rank as top 5 coffee shop.

We know coffee is one of the most drinks to us, and did you know that actually Starbucks competes other few coffee shops too. There are FOUR types of coffee shops which also competes Starbucks Coffee:

1. Coffee Bean and Tea-Leaf
Description:
Herbert B. Hyman started The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® in 1963 with a dedication to excellence and quality, and his efforts made him the founding father of gourmet coffee in California. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® has since grown into one of the largest privately- owned, family-run coffee and tea companies in the world.

The endurance and popularity of The Bean, as it is affectionately referred to by devotees, can be attributed to the high standards that were established from the beginning. From trend-setting drinks like the World Famous Ice Blended®, to the employees who become a part of the communities they work in, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ® has discovered the formula for a successful coffee and tea company.

Analysis:
Coffee Bean was always a competitor to Starbucks, they both have a reasonable price for coffee drinks and other beverages. Come back to their website, this website hasn't been updated since 2010, it's a pity as they have such a good website but they actually just put a hiatus. People love coffee drinks, but if some people haven't try their product but first surf on this web, i would say it's a bit disappointment. But of course, their layout, theme, colors and so on, are quite a match.

2. Gloria Jean's Coffee
Description:
Gloria Jean’s Coffees, one of the world’s top gourmet coffee retailer, has shifted its gear to capture some of specialty coffee market with immediate plans to open more stores in the country. The move follows acquisition of franchise rights by Malaysia International Franchise (MyFranchise) from its Australian franchisor, in December 2006. MyFranchise, through its subsidiary Wonderful Lifestyle Sdn Bhd, is now the master franchisee of the brand in Malaysia and Brunei.

Analysis:
To me, I never heard and never really been to Gloria Jean's coffee shop in my life, as I know the franchise is also open in Malaysia. The website layout is clean and the color suits back the logo itself, but not really user-friendly, because I'm not sure what I'm surfing at. Some parts were not able to click even though the content attracts me to look what will it be, and it's still a messed. This website has up-to-date, but not much if compared to others which didn't really update for a year or two.

3. Pacific Coffee Company 太平洋咖啡
Description:
The concept of Pacific Coffee was inspired by the coffee culture of Seattle, where coffeehouses were community hubs, serving great Italian espresso based coffee in generous American sizes, with informality and a friendly attitude. Since its establishment in 1992, Pacific Coffee Company has been providing world-class coffee to satisfy Hong Kong's growing demand for specialty coffee beverages.

Analysis:
Looks tasty, looks yummy, looks fresh...Mmmmm...But again, the website hasn't been updated since 2010. Although it's 2010, when I looked up on their layouts and colors and themes, there's nothing problem on this website but only the categories labels are a bit messy. Overall, it's a nice website, though. But this company wasn't compete high enough to Starbucks & Coffee Bean, but I'm sure they work on it.

4. San Francisco Coffee
Description:
From a single store in 1997, the San Francisco Coffee brand, has grown to over 27 outlets in Malaysia and Singapore today. We've succeeded because we're passionate about coffee, food, and service. You'll be happy to know we're constantly looking at new markets too and plan to continue our expansion around the region.

Analysis:
5 years ago, this coffee was also my favorite coffee shop at all times, and that time their coffee was tastier than other coffee shop. After 5 years, and during that 5 years, I've never been to this coffee shop because they eventually dropped their coffee quality, and the competition to other coffee shop wasn't really good, but it still a branded and nice coffee shop franchise in our country. Back to the website, it's similar to what we saw in Starbucks Malaysia, it's very messy, I don't think I'll surf further after opening the homepage.

That's how I analyze them. haha! XD

Web Design II - Upcoming Final Project - Re-Design Commercial Website

The topic was randomly picked and chosen by our lecturer. It is quite a challenge to redesign a commercial website which has been published on the LIVE web. Now here's the screenshot of what I need to redesign the commercial for this short semester in Year 2:

STARBUCKS COFFEE MALAYSIA

The website hasn't got any updates and is very messy, and this is the challenge on how actually commercial website works like other updated websites. Whether its layout, colors, typography...it's time to move on the next stage on creating a 'DIV TAG' method commercial method in this semester.
